Outsource to SavHost

Why outsource your design to SavHost's Development team.

To say that the job market is slow is an understatement. Business are reluctant to hire in a slow economy. But, there exists one option to firms wishing to increase their output without the liability of another body they have to keep busy full time. Outsource. Outsourcing provides businesses with a flexible, yet reliable source of labor.

Outsourcing is also less likely to create HR headaches and require extra training since most freelancers are self-sufficient and are ready and willing to work on a subcontract basis. Over time relationships develop and the lines between client - customer - employer - partner blur creating a free flow of work and labor.

In the high tech industry outsourcing is especially suited for firms who offer web-based products, but need skilled web developers to build web sites for their clients in order to take advantage of those products. Building up a competent IT department is expensive and can distract from the firms core mission. In these situations an outsourced agency can help fill the gaps. The added skill sets these outsource providers bring allows such firms to offer a more comprehensive service and in turn helps them land clients they otherwise may not have gotten.

If expectations are made clear from the outset on the part of al parties outsourced relationships are not only mutually beneficial. They are the wave of the future.

Some things to keeping mind when entering into an outsource relationship:

Firms can often find the best service providers by tapping into their network. These individuals come with the recommendation of trusted colleagues and are less expensive to find than utilizing a head hunter firm which often mark up rates by as much as 80%

When working with a new service provider i t may be a good idea to start small. Choose a project that is less critical, but that will give both parties a chance to feel out one another and learn the processes each likes to work under.

Set expectations early on. Agree on a rate or a method of compensation that is agreeable to both sides. Firms are often compensated for outsourced work by marking up the rate of that provider. The agreed upon rate must be high enough to compensate the provider for their work, but also give the firm a chance to be competitive when bidding projects with the markup added in.

Expectations include other factors besides compensation. Agree on the timeline expectations, whether to work in house or away, how to resolve disputes and more. Often these issues can be worked out after the first go around. I have discovered that it often pays off to do a job at a lower rate on the first go around so that I can establish some ground rules for future projects.

Develop a sense of mutual respect for each other's position. One drawback of such a relationship is that, for the provider, there is not as much at stake if the project goes bad or if the client is unhappy. Providers should exhibit a sense of responsibility for the client's satisfaction just as if the client was their own. Firms should see that their providers are happy, adequately compensated and that their work is appreciated.
